The Development Authority of Washington County is an official county authority authorized by Georgia statute, the members of which are appointed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners. The Authority is comprised of seven members and is served by a full-time executive director.
The Authority, sometimes referred to as the Industrial Development Authority, has the mission of leading the economic development for the county and is the sole authorized issuer of Industrial Revenue Bonds, as often preferred means of financing for economic development projects.
